CPI has been working in Wake County for over 40 years to help people with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD), brain injuries, or other life challenges achieve their dreams and be fully included in their communities.
Our mission is to build inclusive communities that embrace the inherent potential of every individual. We believe that all people have gifts and that everyone has something to contribute—and that we’re far more successful as a community when everyone has a chance to participate and to pursue their passions.
CPI started out by providing Early Intervention services to young children with disabilities and Supported Employment services to students and adults with I/DD who wanted to enter the workforce. Since then, the agency has grown and added services in response to observable service gaps and needs across the state. Today, we have offices in Raleigh, Winston-Salem, Charlotte, and Greenville that offer services that help people with disabilities get jobs, meet their basic needs and access supports to live more independently, and that help ensure that children with disabilities can attend the childcare centers of their parents’ choosing. CPI now serves between 1,400-1,500 people per year, and we expect that number to grow this fiscal year.
